In addition to providing CPR classes for
healthcare providers and the general public, Delavan Rescue Squad, Inc. also
provides more classes for healthcare providers to further their education and
knowledge base. All of the below classes are taught by experienced
members and/or affiliates of Delavan Rescue Squad, Inc.
Below is a breakdown of the types of other classes/certifications we offer:
PALS- Pediatric Advanced Life Support Description: The PALS Provider Course provides the learner with information and strategies needed to recognize and prevent cardiopulmonary arrest in infants and children. The course provides information needed to: recognize infants and children at risk for cardiopulmonary arrest; information and strategies needed to prevent cardiopulmonary arrest in infants and children; and the cognitive and psychomotor skills needed to resuscitate and stabilize infants and children in respiratory failure, shock and cardiopulmonary arrest. Course Length: 16 hours Written/Skills Test: Required for card completion Who is this class for: EMTs, paramedics, doctors, nurses, respiratory therapists and other professional who are responsible for the well being of infants and children. Prerequisites: BLS Healthcare Provider card, Recommended but not required: ACLS certification Description: The ACLS Provider Course provides the knowledge and skills needed to evaluate and manage adult ventricular fibrillation/ventricular tachycardia (VF/VT) arrest. Providers are expected to learn and manage 10 core ACLS cases: a respiratory emergency, four types of cardiac arrest, four types of pre-arrest emergencies, and stroke. Course Length: 8 – 16 hours Written/Skills Test: Required for card completion Who is this class for: EMTs, paramedics, doctors, nurses, respiratory therapists and other professional who may respond to a cardiovascular emergency. Prerequisite: BLS Healthcare Provider card Description: The PEPP course is designed to teach pre-hospital professionals how to better assess and manage ill or injured children. PEPP is a comprehensive, innovative and highly visual pediatric course with case based lecture, live action videos, hands on skill stations and small group scenarios. There are both BLS and ALS courses available. Length: BLS Course – 1 day, ALS Course – 2 days Test: Required for completion Who is this course for: EMTs, paramedics, nurses, doctors and any other healthcare professionals who are responsible for a child in the pre-hospital setting. Prerequisite: BLS Healthcare Provider Card, Preferred but not required ACLS card Description: GEMS is a course that provides pre-hospital medical information for the care of older adults. The GEMS course is innovative, comprehensive and highly visual with case based lectures, live action video, hands on skill stations, and small group scenarios. It is designed to meet the minimum standards related to the geriatric portion of the US Department of Transportation National Standard Curriculum for EMTs and paramedics. There are both BLS & ALS courses available. Length: BLS Course – 1 day, ALS Course – 2 days or 3 modular courses Test: Required for completion Who is this course for: EMTs, paramedics, nurses, doctors and any other healthcare professionals who are responsible for the elderly in the pre-hospital setting.
